Christmas at the Cathedral

St. Cecilia Catholic Cathedral, 701 N. 40th St., Omaha, NE 68131

This year's Christmas at the Cathedral is an exciting fusion of the old and new. Centered around J.S. Bach's famous advent cantata, No. 140 "Wachet Auf," the program will also include the world premiere of David Gardner's O Magnum Mysterium. Bookending this pairing of an iconic staple of the canon and a new composition are new arrangements of very old carols. Fresh takes on "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," "Angels from the Realms of Glory," and "Sussex Carol" will complement traditional arrangements of "O Come, Emmanuel" and "What Sweeter Music." Capping off this classical Christmas will be Conrad Susa's A Christmas Garland, featuring carols for audience participation. Come prepared for a heart-warming kick-off to your Christmas season.
